A new and improved Purple Heart Outdoor Tour blacktail deer hunt will be held on August 26-29, 2010.
Six individuals will hunt at this year’s event. LTC Dan Hammack, founder of the PHOT, will be on hand and this year he’s bringing four other soldiers and a NYC Fireman. The fireman is a new twist and we’re all excited about meeting an individual who experienced the drama of 911 in person. According to LTC Hammack, even the soldiers are in awe when they hear first-hand accounts.
Looks like brothers (a Navy Seal and Army Ranger) from Santa Rosa California, along with two other battle tested soldiers from Texas and Georgia. The bios haven’t arrived yet, but when they do, I’ll post it here.

The program includes a BBQ on Thursday evening with a motorcade leading the troopers in. Then hunting on Friday and Saturday morning with a BBQ at noon Saturday at the Livermore-Pleasanton Rod and Gun Club. The hunters who haven’t taken a buck will return to the field Saturday evening and Sunday.
We’ve got a very aggressive program and plenty of expenses so if you’d like to make a donation in support of the event, please let me know.
I got the PHOT and the WWR motorcycle escort group together last year. I also provided several cases of beer for the BBQ courtesey of North Coast Brewing Company of Fort Bragg CA. The brewery would like to provide beer for the BBQ again and I need some specifics so we can get it set up again.
