Rick: I'd love to think that I know a lot about trout fishing, so thanks, but I'm not that good.

That first photo is as good as life is going to get, unless you are covered if mosquitoes/horse flies. Awesome!

For all the stuff you have done, I can't help but wonder if you are not one of the world's greatest wet fly fishermen.

Lupine is far and away my favorite of the wildflowers - we always try and grow them here in the dry desert of Eastern Oregon - and we always fail! Sometimes we can get some scraggly lookin' ones, but nothing like the ones we see in the mountains all around us. That's quite the falls, there, too - gotta love hiking through the mountains!

Awesome. I pity the poor people that will never see sights like that. Looks an awful lot like some of our camps in Hell's Canyon - beautiful places, indeed. I think I'm heading out this weekend - your pics gave me the itch!

Yes. Getting animals home is always a shocker, I've never been properly prepared for the financial blow. However, there's no backing down once you get started. Planning ahead, making good choices and maybe negotiating ahead can probably help, but most of the time one doesnt have experience to fall back on.

Just stumbled into your blog. Wow, some of those beautiful pictures about bring tears to my eyes. Thanks for Wright's Lake and many other great times. If I didn't have to swim 1500 meters and run a 5K this afternoon I'd write more. All the best.

Man, that's awesome - thanks for the info! We're nowhere near fit enough in the pocket book for that trip, but it's good to know for down the road - because I definitely want to do it sometime!

My uncle got back from a safari early this year and his daughter stayed behind to do some nursing stuff - then she called him up a few weeks after they'd been home - "Dad, I got a chance to go hunting and I went. I shot a ( can't remember what all - it was something like 4-5 animals) - can I bring them home?" Talk about a shocked Daddy! He wasn't sure if he'd have the money to have that many more animals mounted and all after his own hunting trip he'd already had a bunch of animals - this was unforeseen! :)

There is definitely something special about opening day. And I love hunting by myself - really makes me connect with everything at a whole different level.

You are right. It is very hot and probably a little discouraging, but on the other hand, you still get to hunt while the rest of us can only dream of hunting right now. I would hunt in my boxers right now if I had the chance!
